Out-of-Band (OOB) SMS OTP and IVR authentication for convenience and regulatory compliance
SMS text OTP and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) are a convenient and cost-effective means of securing Single Sign-On (SSO) apps and financial transactions. By leveraging the user’s existing phone, these Out-of-Band (OOB) authentication methods combine ease-of-deployment with ease-of-use:
SurePassID’s Out-of-Band (OOB) strong authentication implementation supports three types of OOB verification:
- One Time Password (OTP) delivered by SMS text message
- One Time Password (OTP) delivered by automated call
- Interactive Voice Response (IVR) via automated call
SMS OTP and IVR will only function when the user is connected to the mobile phone network. In cases where coverage is unavailable or mobile phones are prohibited on-premises, users will be unable to authenticate and a secondary method of authentication – a OneCard or Mobile OTP app, for example – will be required.
